What is the Long Night of Science?
Knowledge. From here. Under this motto, Magdeburg's scientific institutions open their doors late into the night and showcase knowledge that is created locally in Magdeburg. Exciting experiments, lab tours, hands-on activities and lectures provide visitors with insights into scientific fields and current research topics
When and where does the Long Night of Science take place?
This year, the Long Night will take place on 14 June from 18:00 to 00:00. In the programme you will find the duration and the exact starting times of the respective programme items - for a few offers you need to register in advance.
The Wissenschaftshafen is the central hub of the Long Night. From here, you can board the two bus routes that will take you to all the institutions.

How much does it cost to take part in the Long Night?
The programme items of the Long Night and the use of the shuttle buses are free of charge. Everyone is cordially invited.
How do I find what interests me?
The programme includes more than 250 offers. To make your selection easier, you can set various filters on the programme page and control your search - be it for bus routes, specific areas of science or programme items for children.
You can also compile your own wish list there.
How do I get to the venues?
From 18:00, free MVB shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes on two routes to the participating institutions. Here you will find the routes and the corresponding stops as well as the timetable.
The Wissenschaftshafen serves as a transfer point for both bus routes. You can reach the Wissenschaftshafen with the regular city bus 73, stop Wittenberger Platz.
The area at and around the Wissenschaftshafen will be completely closed to car traffic from 17:00 on 14 June. Parking is available on Sandtorstr. and bicycle racks can be found at the entrance to the site.
What security measures are in place?
The Wissenschaftshafen is extensively cordoned off by bollards and there is also increased security. The institutions have tightened up their security concepts and are also deploying security staff.
Who organises the Long Night of Science?
The Long Night of Science is a joint project organised by the city of Magdeburg and the city's scientific institutions. The Education and Science Team in the Mayor's Office is responsible for the overall coordination.
Are photographs taken during the Long Night?
The Long Night is a public event at which representatives of the media and photographers are commissioned by the organisers to take photographs in order to document the event. We would like to point out that the photographic material will subsequently be reproduced and published without time and space restrictions for the public promotion of future events and used for related publications in third-party media (e.g. press, website, brochures, flyers, animations, film, etc.).
